Sleepy Hollow & Friends,

Big thanks to the Wellness Program Sponsored by Zamira Solari Realtor for the showing of SCREENAGERS.  Please visit www.screenagersmovie.com for more info.

If you missed the showing and would like to watch it, please email Aya and we will send you a link to view the movie.

Next Saturday, join neighbor and parent Abigail Wald for a follow up conversation around screens & tweens/teens.

From Abigail:

My name is Abigail Wald, and I live here in Sleepy Hollow. I have two teen boys, now 14 and 16 years old, and was really heartened to see the viewing of Screenagers that Zamira set up so we could all take a look at the relationships our tweens and teens have to their screens. It certainly brings up a lot of thoughts and feelings for us as parents!

  • Are screens all bad?
  • What can we as parents really do about it?
  • Why is it that some of our kids gravitate to them and some don't?
  • How can we give them what they want, but also help them be more responsible about it?
  • How can we keep them connected, and yet safe?
  • Is it ok if we want to just get rid of them all together?

These are some great questions, and I will be facilitating a community discussion for parents around these very topics on Saturday, October 28th, 10am at the Sleepy Hollow Community Center.

Tech is definitely a very interesting issue for all of us, as our children are growing up in quite a different world than we did, and this can make for some challenges. While tech definitely has its advantages, sometimes we parents can worry that there are not enough real-world skills that our kids are developing.

If you think your tween or teen would enjoy the conversation feel free to bring them along. That said, they'd probably rather stay home and eat a plate full of kale and radishes. That's okay. I'll be giving you plenty of tools that you can bring home to them later.

In parent solidarity,

Abigail Wald
